There is an ever-present debate on cheap labor and it's benefits and drawbacks. If you have interest on whether or not free markets are worth it, you can take a look at a Milton Friedman film. Milton Friedman asserts that the less government intervention the better, and that the market will naturally sort things out.

A company that uses cheap labor is always going to have a high profit. With respect to Mr. Friedman's assertion, the problem is that sometimes cheapness comes from devaluing the labor itself. In an ideal world, what he issaying is true, and people are not hurting one another to do it.

At what point do we change what the value is on peoples hard work? How do we make a set payment for these workers? As a world force, this can be determined by the open market, which is something that Mr. Friedman Cheap wages can be misused by companies in a way that affects children and people's livelihoods in very negative way. Can we allow people who run these companies decide what's best for these people?

In an international symposium in Mexico, a woman named Nancy Salzman gave a presentation in ...
... which she applied a unique model to business. She thinks that a company's - or in the case of China and the harsh labor problems there – and a country's ability to achieve long term success for itself and its people comes from considering the state in which its workers are made to work.

Is it ever okay to be negligent about human rights? I don't think there is. Being inconsiderate and barbaric to workers will never be a good excuse to try and beat out their competition or just make a little bit of extra money.

Since innovation and productivity are two big parts of business success, the government should play a small role in control of funds. Ethics should be the staple of how corporations are run or else a free market will never be a safe place. How do some people believe we can attain a successful free market? By practicing good moral values. Ethical thinking can assist those who believe in a free market. Both Nancy Salzman and Keith Raniere created a company called Executive Success Programs built, which is built on these ideals. Delivering ethics into corporations and labor markets is what they do best. I believe Mr. Friedman and Ms. Salzman may be onto something.
