Honda recently contradicted the “too low to be recommended” rating that Consumer Reports has given to the 2012 Honda Civic citing some the aspects that the magazine has failed to consider.

This contradicting views and statements actually started after Consumer Reports rated the 2012 Honda Civic with the lowest mark which eventually led to the general notion that the Civic is the second worst car after the redesigned version of the VW Jetta.

Consumer Reports came up with the “too low to be recommended” rating for the 2012 Honda Civic after its evaluators took the Civic for a test drive. After this, the magazine’s evaluators pointed out that the Civic has cheap interior, riding capabilities that could be considered poor, fails to provide a quick stop, and louder interior noise.

However, Honda eventually contradicted these findings. According to Honda, which is considered as one of the Japanese car makers who have been producing different types of vehicles for American car finders, the 2012 Honda Civic could actually be considered as a step forward instead ...
... of criticizing it.

This is because the redesigned version of the Civic offers a lot of unique features compared to those that are found on other compacts sold to new car finders. Honda even pointed that Consumer Reports failed to consider the other aspects of the Civic most especially its safety capabilities as well as the model’s long history of reliability.

In addition to this, Honda has also justified the reason why the interior of the Civic has a look that Consumer Reports considers to be cheap. According to Honda, this was the product of their engineers and designers’ dismissal of the idea that the interior portions of the car would be redesigned since this would only increase the price of the vehicle.

The company also anticipated that the increase on the price of the Civic would greatly affect its sales since most Americans are currently experiencing the harsh effects of the economic recession and the Lehman Shock.

By providing the needed justifications and subsequent proofs that the ratings given by Consumer Reports for the 2012 Honda Civic is questionable, Honda hopes to encourage more buyers to purchase this compact car as well as obtain some of the auto financing deals offered by the company’s dealerships.
