Do you want to get into the commercial printing business? Why not? If you have the resources and some knowledge about printing, becoming a commercial printercould be a really good business for you. You can run it yourself or you can manage it along with a trusted printing supervisor who has had some experience in the production area of a printing company.

But when it comes to capitalization, starting a commercial printing business could entail a lot of capital. Here are the four main areas of capitalization on which you need to shell out big bucks for.

You Printing Machines
The number of printers that you will purchase will really be dependent on how much money you have. It would be nice to start with at least two units; however, there are also other things to spend for. So if you do not have a lot of budget yet, you can start with one unit of commercial printer. It could be either offset or digital, as both printers with the same capacity cost about the same. Your extra benefit with having a digital printer ...
... is that you can set up your online operations. If you can afford it, you can start up with one offset unit and one digital unit. For a total of $30,000, you can already have good units of both for your startup operations. But do not expect them to work like those machines used in periodicals because these equipment could set you back at least a million dollars for a single unit

Your Office Space Rental
The office space and the production area are both part of your capital expenditure. A printing operation could really take up so much space because the equipment and machines can be really big, depending on the kind that you got. But even just a simple machine could really take up so much space already so you have to put this into consideration. In most cases, the lessor would require you to pay a one-month advance and a three-month deposit on your rent. So that will go to your capital expenditures because you could not touch that money while you are under contract with them. But that is something that you have to spend on because you need space to house your business.

Part of your capitalization will also go to the renovation and furnishing of your new business space.

You Initial Operations
Since your business is new, you should expect to shell out for your initial operational costs, as you may or may not have sales yet. Sometimes, you will already have customers but since they are most likely going to pay in terms, you will not have outright cash from your recent transactions. The initial costs that you should have money for are printing supplies, salaries, utility payments, permits, and insurances. While you can easily recoup all these expenses when you are running a printing business, you will just have to shell out the initial costs.

Your Advertising and Marketing Expenses
When you are in business, you should let people know what your business is for and what you are offering. That is why that as a commercial printer, you need to set aside some budget in order to promote your business. While many people do needcommercial printing services, they should know that you are offering it otherwise how will they be able to go to you?
