Being disabled does not have to be the end of life nor is getting old a crime. Medical equipment manufacturers, doctors, the medical fraternity and with the advancements in technology have ensured that the disabled person is able to lead a normal life and the elderly need not depend upon anyone else. Motorized wheelchairs and disability scooters are instances of this technology. While motorized wheelchairs help a disabled and an elderly person move about with greater ease but it is obviously meant for short distances. Disability scooters on the other hand play a vital role in helping an elderly person and the disabled person improve quality of life.

Disabled people face constant challenges and lack of mobility and freedom of movement rank among the top hurdles that they try to surmount and the elderly along with growing weakness and other physical issues deprive themselves from living life the way they want to, which they consider is not possible without depending on a family member. Increased mobility due to technology is a boon to the disabled and the increased sales in both wheelchairs and scooters are testimony to ...
... this fact.

The Disability Scooters can come in a 2 wheel option which does not emit much noise when driven and they offer no-emissions at all. This is known as a power-assisted bike. There are several different types of disability scooters available and the types of disability scooters include portable scooters, pavement scooters, luxury scooters and heavy duty scooters. Some of these scooters have a single touch feather handle meaning they are operated by a single knob. The battery on scooters for the disabled is of bigger size and longer lasting. Certain types of scooter cater to people of a bigger frame and accommodate up to 350 lbs weight capacity. There are also mobility scooters which are electrically driven too. It’s charged from an electric point and can be used till it lasts. There are 3 wheel mobility scooters and they are mostly used by people for indoor purposes. For easy mobility indoors these mobility scooters are used. Nevertheless, have to be careful not to hit any delicate items at home. This is great for home use as well as when in a shop allowing one not to restrict oneself from going outdoors and being part of family outings and shopping. This allows the person to maneuver the vehicle with more control so you can move in tight corners if necessary. There are 4 wheel versions available too and are considered to be the most stable of them all minimizing the risks of either toppling or balancing. It is like driving a car. Even if they are not as maneuverable as a 3 wheel option, the 4 wheel can offer immense durability for regular driving activities. There are also the compact or boot scooters and they are designed for easy transportation. These ones can be disassembled in a few minutes and they can fit inside the trunk of a car making it easily portable but the disadvantage is that it is short lived and does not help in the long run. Manufacturers these days are building scooters that are ideal for long distance and frequent travel.
