The HP LTO4 tape represents HP’s fourth generation of LTO cartridges, the first tape of its type capable of storing up to 800GB of native data (1.6 TB compressed) per cartridge, while offering features such as hardware based encryption and Data Rate Matching (DRM). 1GB of data can be recorded on the tape within 8.3 seconds, which results in a high transfer speed of 120MB/sec for the native and 240MB/sec for the compressed, while ensuring efficient handling of data and transfer information. The HP LTO4 also features a LTO-CM (Linear Tape Open Cartridge Memory) module, which stores drive-related data including information about past errors and usage history.
