The Problems With Google—a Supplier’s Perspective
If you are a supplier who is looking to increase sales, we have got some interesting ideas for you. You no longer have to go to the trouble of making PPC ad campaigns or trying to be found or seen on Google. It is important for distributors and suppliers to understand that, in the new world, the game is the same, but the rules have changed.
Here Are Some Reasons Why:
Google Information Is Difficult to Find
Try searching for a supplier of an unknown commodity, and you will understand truly how off base Google results can be. The problem is that Google has to sort out a lot useless information before they display results. So, if you type “clothing suppliers,” there is a high probability that Google will come up with results that include clothing or suppliers alone. These results are simply useless. Moreover, Google gives higher preference to news stories. So, you may not get contact information but news instead!
Google Information Is Not Credible
Information over the web can be created ...
... by anyone. You can never know whether the counterparty you are dealing with is genuine or not. Trade transactions involve the give-and-take of money. This mandates you to put a good amount of trust in your suppliers. Even if you are not making outright payments, you still have to depend on manufacturers to make the deliveries. If they don’t, your reputation with customers takes a beating. Hence, there is a need for a better website that can give the same functionalities as Google but ads credibility to the transactions.
Online Marketplaces Are Making Headway
This is the reason that online marketplaces are making tremendous headway. Just look at the success of Alibaba and eBay, and you will get the point. These websites have features such as bulletin boards and trust pass, which Google can never offer to suppliers.
These bulletin boards act as online marketplaces where there are many wanted or available listings, and suppliers can respond to these listings and gain new business. At the same time, they are awarded trust passes. This means that buyers and suppliers both know that they are dealing with credible counterparties and not fraudulent organizations.
The increasing instances of online scams and people being robbed out of their money have played roles in creating a preference for networking forums.
PPCs Don’t Get Enough Traffic
Increases in the number of scams have encouraged buyers to access networking forums that vouch for their data. Most buyers will now first go to a networking site and look at the options before they start searching or inviting proposals.
The issue of credibility h as always was around ever since the Internet came into existence. If anyone can create a web page, fraudsters can too! It is because of this reason that there has been a shift in traffic from Google to other networking forums. Suppliers are making beelines to be a part of these forums and find new customers.
