To be used as police light, there are certain attributes that are absolutely important. LEDs often used in the form of light bars or beacons and are usually preferred by cops, traffic authorities and patrol cars. In fact, these lights have almost become a part of the vehicles used for maintaining law and order as well as for protection of civilians on the road. However, these lights cannot be chosen randomly. Plenty of thought usually goes behind their manufacture as well as their selection for the purpose they are used for.

LEDs used for police light consume very less power. The LEDs used in light bars and beacons are far more energy efficient compared to incandescent bulbs and halogen lights. They consume energy because of their relatively high outputs. These are diodes whose functioning is slightly different from incandescent bulbs, where the resistance of the filament through which current passes is primarily responsible for the light. This also leads to a lot of energy wasted in the form of heat, something that is greatly avoided in case of light emitting diodes.

police light, owing ...
... to its low power consumption is highly portable and is useful in emergency situations or overnight rides where carrying extra batteries will not be convenient. The casing of these lights is usually polycarbonate or some thermoplastic material which is extremely durable. The fact that the diodes don't get heated up even after being used for more than 6 - 8 hours, ensures that the lights aren't vulnerable to rain or snow.

The attractiveness of a police light and the ease with which they can be identified is another important attribute. The lights could be any combination of colors, including red, blue and amber. They could be made to flash at short pulses, ensuring that the alternately glowing colors make it extremely evident that it is a police vehicle. Those looking for help will also find it a lot easier to spot such a vehicle. The light emitted by the LEDs is also extremely visible in spite of haze or fog and is ideal for night time. Different colors can be used for different cadres of vehicles differentiating one from another. The circuit and control box can be easily configured to get the right frequency of flashing and glowing of these LED lights.

The police light used in light bars and even other types of emergency lighting are usually made of assemblies of LED arrays that can be easily combined to produce the required effect. They vary from single light, mounted beacons that usually gyrate on the roof of the vehicle, to long light bars, with alternately flashing color blocks. Lenses and reflectors are used in the LED casing to enhance the visibility of these lights further. Above all, the low beam temperature combined with excellent luminosity makes these lights ideal for their uses. In fact, they are soft on the eyes too, in spite of their visibility, giving one the best of both worlds. These emergency LED lights are also environmental friendly and require very low maintenance, rounding off the complete package of desirable attributes.
