Installing New Bathroom Vanity Cabinets
It is not hard at all to install new bathroom vanity cabinets as long as one has the proper tools for the job. The type of tools that are used depends upon the floor style that is in the bathroom. In most cases, bathroom vanities will sit on a sub floor of plywood. This is often covered by tile, although not usually under the bathroom vanity. In some cases, the cabinet may sit on concrete, in which case you need to use a concrete nail gun in order to secure it to the floor. In most cases, however, screws can be used to secure the cabinet to the floor beneath.
If there is any tile that is under the cabinet, then it must be removed. It is important that the bathroom vanities sit flush with the floor so that they will operate properly. After all, on top of the bathroom vanity cabinets goes the sink, so it needs to be level. Measures must be taken to make sure that the cabinet is level, and shims may be needed in order to make this possible as many houses are not built square. It is better to start with a clean sub floor and preferably a new floor in the bathroom. The area for the vanity should be sketched out before ...
... it is installed.
Those who are getting a new vanity for the bathroom should take a look at the current storage that they have now and decide whether they want to make it bigger or not. If so, they can simply order a larger cabinet set. However, if they are going with relatively the same size, installation will be a bit easier as will measuring for the cabinet. One way to make sure that you measure the right way is to simply measure the existing vanity that you are replacing. This will give an accurate measurement for the replacement cabinet.
Once the cabinet is installed, it should be level and this can be made to happen with the use of a level. When it is screwed properly into the ground the sink can then be installed. In some cases, the sink is already installed and the vanity is just going around the sink. There is usually a top to the sink that will be installed over the vanity itself and this can be made of marble in some cases. Many, when getting a new vanity for the bathroom, will also be getting a new sink. There must be provisions made for the sink on the vanity. The cabinet is merely a cabinet that covers up the sink and is used for storage in the bathroom so it is installed pretty much the same way that kitchen cabinets are installed.
It is not difficult at all to put in a new bathroom vanity. One has to have some carpentry knowledge as well as the right tools such as measuring tapes, screwdrivers and drills and possibly a cement nail gun for affixing the fixture to a cement floor. A level is necessary to make sure that the project is done correctly and that there will be no problems with the sink in the room.
