The use of emergency vehicle lighting has increased greatly. Police strobe lights provide an excellent example for those looking around for the use and effectiveness of these strobe lights. They are quite efficient in getting attention and are hence appropriate for their use with cop vans and also other forms of emergency vehicles like highway patrol cars, vehicles that are involved in car chases, etc. One can also find strobe lights used in bars due to their low investment and excellent output.

Police strobe lights are characterized by the flashing that is a necessary component of emergency vehicle lighting. In fact, the strobe lights are sometimes accompanied by a control box which allows the flash pattern as well as the frequency to be altered on the fly. The portable lighting combined with an easily configurable circuit makes these strobe lights a very popular model to be used on emergency vehicles. The flashing can be as rapid as a fraction of a second in some cases, to add to the special effects created by these strobe lights.

Police strobe lights are often accentuated in effect through ...
... two common techniques. The first is the use of chrome reflectors, which add to the glow and output of the 8 candle power strobe lights that are used in some cop vans. The chrome reflectors also ensure that the light is spread out in all directions enhancing their visibility to a great extent. Another feature used in the strobe lights is the lens which can magnify the light emanating from strobe lights, creating the illusion of a much bigger light source than is present on the police vehicle. The 2.5J flash lights are used for special effects and also to warn others around, especially when the police van is demanding a freeway due to the nature of the emergency, such as a high speed car chase.

The Police strobe lights are known for their rustic and rugged nature, in addition to their flashing special effects. These strobe lights usually comprising of LEDs can take high impact without being affected. This resiliency is extremely important for police vehicles as they need to be switched on for long hours in some cases and in harsh weather conditions. Sometimes, the emergency lighting is actually fixed on the vehicle body. It could also be mounted on the roof in the form of light bars with alternate flashes to signify a police van.

The Police strobe lights neither require a lot of energy nor emit a lot of heat, adding to their ease of use and low maintenance. Instead of using colored lenses or reflectors, the strobe lights offer a cheap option of using colored diodes in red, blue, yellow, green and other shades. The control box can be manipulated to alternately allow each of the colored lights to glow thus creating a flashy effect that could be used both for cautioning and identification. Moreover, these lights are much more cost efficient when compared to light bulbs using xenon or halogen bulbs.
