As we know that sleep disturbances are very common in older people. Changes sleep patterns may be a normal part of aging, but many other factors in older people contribute to sleep problems. Hence, we hope that we can help dear old people.

Sleep disorders decrease quality of life in older people by causing daytime sleepiness, and lack of energy. Poor quality of sleep also can lead to confusion, difficulty concentrating, and poor performance on tasks.

The older people may need less sleep than younger people myth may have stemmed from the fact that it’s simply harder for seniors to sleep at all, the fact that older healthy people sleep less than younger healthy adults is more simply explained by a reduced need, as opposed to a reduced ability to sleep. For all ages, getting enough sleep is important.

Sleep problems may be caused by illness, by pain that keeps a person from sleeping or by medicines that keep a person awake. Some lifestyle habits can cause sleep problems.

Most adults need 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night to feel fully alert during the day. This is usually also true for people age 65 ...
... or older. But as we get older, we might have more trouble sleeping. Many things can get in the way of sleeping well or sleeping long enough to be fully rested.

However, older people can change their lifestyles to perfect their sleep. These changes can increase exercise and time spent outdoors and decreasing napping, you will adjust both the length and quality of your sleep.

Every day, older people get up early and get less exercise. Be sure to talk to your doctor and get a healthy amount of daily exercise. And don’t lie in bed for a long time trying to go to sleep. After 30 minutes of trying to sleep, get up and do something quiet for a while in a different room, such as reading or listening to quiet music.

Then try again to fall asleep in bed. Meanwhile, Alcohol, caffeine will wreak havoc on your sleep. If you are having trouble, cut back and be sure not to use any of these within three hours of going to bed.
