How Smart Are Street Smarts?
The interesting thing about the term "street smarts," is that it seems to both imply some way of cheating or stealing, while in some way saying that being deceitful is good, or something to be proud of. Some people see having "street smarts" as a favorable way to get things through lying and it being considered an appropriate action. It makes negative actions seem worthy because of the thinking process behind the person.
Some people don't know how else to act except to use street smarts. People who use street smarts were taught at a young age that it's the only way to get though life. Or, these could be people that have never cheated, but that are constantly defensive because they've been deceived and in many ways are looking for someone to do them wrong. People don't even comprehend that this is just a normal way of living for people who use street smarts as an excuse. What does being a street smart person determine? Are we not seeing the whole picture and making judgments on what exactly embodies? Can you have the best of both worlds when being street smart? Are there ways in which one of these individuals ...
... could use their bad skills for good? Using street smarts that were negative in the beginning as good ways to gain what you need should be the preferred method through life skills.
This is something that the organization NXIVM also has faith in. This belief, that street smarts are appropriate if used for good is a innovative way of positive and rational thinking that way created by the founder of the NXIVM, Keith Raniere. This method shows a person how to make their lifestyle something much better with understanding of how this authentic process works.
If the way these people used street smarts were manipulated into something positive for them, it would really make a difference in the way they continue through life making decisions. Imagine being effective AND positively affecting others.
This makes sense for the worlds widespread direction. If one person could be affected positively, then think what it could do for the rest of the world. The query now is, what can we do to work on our own understanding of street smarts?
