We Put The New blackberry 9900 Bold Touch Head To Head With The Iphone 4
The Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch is the handset that RIM hope will rekindle the brands name in the smartphone marketplace. Blackberry have always proved popular amongst certain areas but certainly have lacked the appeal held by the Apple iPhone 4 thanks to its simple operating system and attractive looks. So what does this new handset offer us and ultimately how does it shape up against the all conquering iPhone?
An area where Blackberry have hugely improved on this handset is when it comes to the internal specifications that influence the phones performance. In this age of modern smartphones the speed of the handset has become a vital aspect and Blackberry have acknowledged this fact with the Bold Touch. The phone sports a very fast 1.2Ghz processor which despite being single core offers more than enough power to handle all the phone can ask of it including the improved visuals offered by the updated operating system. The processor is accompanied by 768MB of RAM so there is plenty of memory available for switching between tasks and general everyday use. The iPhone 4 runs the Blackberry pretty close in this area ...
... but ultimately cannot quite match the figures that are offered on the Bold Touch. Despite being a slightly slower processor at 1Ghz the chip is Apples own A4 unit that was used in the first iPad and should offer ample speed. RAM comes in a 512MB which is slightly disappointing considering how well the phone generally performs in other areas.
The Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch has seen some significant improvements when it comes to still shot and video capture facilities. For those wanting to capture photographs on the phone you will not be disappointed with the 5 mega pixel camera feature. Not only does this offer a great standard of image but it also gives users a wealth of useful tools such as face detection which as its name suggests will focus the photo on any peoples faces that it can detect within the frame. Geo tagging, an LED flash and autofocus are all also present. The iPhone 4 however does exceed what the Blackberry offers in terms of quality thanks to the high quality optics that are used in the phone. The image resolution remains the same at 5 million but the picture quality is really superb and the touch focus facility enables you to touch which part of the picture that you want the camera to focus on.
The Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch certainly impresses and exceeds what Apple can offer in many areas however the popularity of these models will depend on which camp the public favours with many users of both of these brands showing great loyalty and ultimately sticking with them when it comes to new models.
The Blackberry Bold Touch is coming soon and the iPhone 4 is available now.
