While a range of options are available to choose from in the world of undertile heating it is not that difficult to make a choice if you understand your requirements and know your budget. It is important to understand how underfloor heat dissimilates so that you can choose the undertile heating option that provides most value for money. For the benefit of easier understanding 3 types of rooms have been identified and the best heating options provided thereof, for you to be able to define and determine your needs.

Conservatory

For a regular conservatory type room you have the option of using the 200w/sqm cable mat system, or the cable kit system with a minimum power of 150w/sqm. For insulation you can use the tile backer insulation board or any other insulation system that you find suitable. Alternatively you can also use the 160w carbon heating film. It is suggested to insulate using 2 layers of 6mm Depron insulating underlay. The final option is to use the heavy duty in-screed cable.

Wet Rooms

For wet rooms like bathrooms where the most amount of heat is known to escape you have the option of using ...
... the cable kit system with a minimum of 150w/sqm. For insulation you can use the tile backer boards insulation or any other insulation system as per your need. There are also multiple options for this requirement, such as heat board which is basically an aluminum board which have pre-set canals to accommodate the heating cables. You may alternatively use the heavy duty in-screed cable if no screed is present.

Other rooms

Undertile heating in such rooms can be provided using a cable kit or cable mat with a minimum intensity of 150w/sqm on insulated floors. For floors that are not insulate dit is recommended to use the tile backer insulation board or any other system the user finds suitable. Another option is to use the 130w carbon film system. Incase the floor space is limited it is recommended to use the 160w carbon film system. Alternatively if no screed is present you may choose the heavy duty in screed cable.
