Oral thrush is usually affecting babies and older people, but it can occur in anyone. It might be caused by certain diseases or prescribed medication. It is actually a fungal infection of the mouth. It can be treated with over the counter drugs, but also with home remedies. It is recommended to consume yogurt if suffering from this problem. Yogurt contains live-acting cultures which help good bacteria grow in your mouth and kill harmful ones. Swish the yogurt around your mouth and don't eat or drink anything for a couple of hours afterwards.

Saline solution is one of the most effective home remedies for oral thrush. Prepare it by dissolving half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of water and then rinse your mouth with it. You can also use it for gargling in order to eliminate bacteria that might have reached your throat.

Another very effective mouth wash can be made from salt and one of the greatest home remedies for oral thrush, cider vinegar. Mix warm water with cider vinegar and add a pinch of salt. Rinse your water with this solution and gargle with it in order to get rid of thrush.

Make a mixture of coconut oil, oregano or tea tree oil and carrier oil and use it for eliminating thrush problem naturally. This mixture can be used by nursing mothers who want to prevent transmitting thrush to their babies.

Garlic and onion are good home remedies for oral thrush because they restore the balance between good and bad bacteria in your mouth. All you have to do is to include these foods in your daily diet, preferably raw.

Herbs can also be great natural remedies for thrush. Rinse your mouth with a mixture made of Echinacea tincture, myrrh tincture and licorice tincture. Use one teaspoon of this mixture every several hours.
