Reasons To Use Generators On A Construction Site

One of the main problems that workers face when they are on a construction site is the lack of power. They are putting the building up, after all, which means that they cannot simply plug their tools into the building's electrical system. This is especially a problem with construction projects that are done far from the town or the city. People sometimes want to live in these areas because they like the seclusion and privacy, but putting up the structure can be difficult for the exact same reasons. Fortunately, there is one way that any construction crew can combat this problem with ease.
Bring the Power Along
Reliable generators such as Honda generators give you the ability to bring your own power along. You can choose between petrol generators or diesel generators, both of which have their pros and cons. Either one however, gives you the ability to have a power source at your construction site no matter where it is located. A large enough generator will be able to run all of your tools and accessories. Eventually, you will get the electrical system on the house complete to the point that you can use that ...
... instead. Until then however, you will want to use your own power.
A Better Alternative than Batteries
Some people advocate buying tools that only need battery power so that you do not have to bring along any Honda generators at all. This sounds good in some ways, but the problem is that it is merely a short-term solution. Hand-held tools are not powerful enough to do large jobs. The small batteries can die quickly. If they die and you have no power to recharge them, you will not be able to work.
Better than Wires
For jobs that are close to the town's electric grid, some people propose running wires as a cheap way to get the power that you need. These electrical extension cords, after all, are not very expensive. The problem with this method is that you can cause a large number of safety issues. There are many potential OH&S issues; your workers could trip and fall, the cords could come undone or be affected by inclement weather, making this system fairly unreliable. The power could still easily turn off when you need it and most importantly, it could endanger the lives of your workers. This is, overall, just a far less convenient solution to the problem.
Diesel versus Petrol Generators
One of the main arguments among people who know about this subject is whether diesel or petrol is the better way to go. First and foremost, you should understand that either one can be incredibly helpful. In the end, however, the edge has to go to diesel. It can provide a bit more power, generally speaking, and you have the ability to refuel it while you work. Petrol fuel can go stale and you will have to stop the petrol generator to refuel it. If the diesel generator dies, you can just add more fuel and you will be ready to go.
