Riding a bike to work as opposed to driving is an energy wise option. It accomplishes many goals at the same time. First and foremost, if the workplace is within an acceptable distance from home, the cyclist benefits from the daily exercise at the beginning and the end of the workday.

If there are hills to cross, the physical benefit multiples. The aerobic exercise becomes even more effective because of increased energy burned climbing the hills. Coasting down the other side is the reward.

Riding a bike to work will cut down on the amount of money spent on gasoline. It will also contribute to creating a cleaner environment and reducing the amount of traffic on the roads. If living in areas where there is no snow and temperatures remain above the freezing point, riding a bike to work daily is something to seriously consider.

Unfortunately, a person who needs to take work home might have a problem adopting this practice. For instance, ...

One type of job which will accommodate bike riding is factory work. Employees who work on assembly lines or in any other areas of manufacturing do not necessarily need to transport any paperwork with them, so it would be easy for them to ride their bikes to work without having to carry anything with them.

Hospital employees, store clerks and some office workers are could also take advantage of riding a bike to work daily or at least twice a week. One of the drawbacks that any of these professionals might have, however, is with proper work attire. Some may need to take a change of clothes with them or keep a change of clothing at work.

In addition, some people do not get enough sleep at night due to snoring. Snoring statistics show that people who snore, and those who sleep with them, do not get the required amount of sleep for a healthy lifestyle. A person should be well-rested and alert when riding a bike either to work or for recreation.
