Sourceanywhere Hosted Is Not Just For Developers

Dynamsoft markets its SourceAnywhere Hosted as an online version control service for software developers. Chances are I would have never known this product if my developer coworker did not recommend it to me.

Like Dynamsoft, my company also produces and sells computer software. I work in the marketing department, and our team believes in getting every brain in the game. In our daily work, there are many documents required for team work.

A typical scenario is like this: A new release is coming out, and the marketing team needs to prepare some documents accordingly, such as newsletter to customers, user manuals, webpage content updates, annunciation on blogs, etc. Each task is assigned to one team member. After she is done, other team members check her work and make modifications and fine-tuning if necessary. After every member makes his contribution, the document reaches to its final version.

Before SourceAnywhere Hosted, we mainly used emails and an ftp server to exchange documents. It was good in general but there were also some drawbacks:
* After several modifications, it will be hard to retrieve ...
... the original or in-between versions.
* Sometimes two members retrieve one doc from ftp and then begin modifying it simultaneously. After they are done with changes and upload the file back to ftp, the second one overwrites the first one's work without even awareness.
* For some document formats which do not support "tracking changes", it's difficult to track each member's modifications.
* We had to write an email to keep everyone posted every time we uploaded a file.

The other day when I chatted with my aforementioned coworker, Ellie, she recommended SourceAnywhere Hosted to me. I have to admit I was reluctant to learn the software in the first place, because I am never good with technologies. However, after Ellie gave the marketing team a 30-minute demo training, I was quite fascinated by the fact that how a product can be powerful while so easy to use. There are many considerate features. I especially like the email notification feature most.

Things have been great since we SourceAnywhere Hosted joined our work. All the drawbacks are solved and the team now works much more efficiently.
