Brixham is a lovely fishing town situated in the southern end of Torbay in Devon, South West England. It is a part of the English Riviera, along with the towns of Torquay and Paignton, and is a very popular tourist destination. Brixham has many attractions and activities to keep visitors entertained for a day out, a weekend break or even longer holidays. There are several shopping and dining options in addition to beautiful accommodation options such as hotels and guest houses available in Brixham, enticing visitors annually. Here are some of the attractions that a holiday in Brixham has to offer:

Brixham Heritage Museum
This museum was founded in the late 1950s to record and preserve the history of Brixham and its people. It has some of the best collections of local history and offers interesting antiques, pictures, maps, paintings and artefacts collected over several hundreds of years. The museum is a registered charity that runs on donations.

The Golden Hind
Probably the most popular attraction in Brixham is this ship – it is a full sized replica of the explorer Sir Francis Drake’s ...
... most famous ship. It has been a feature in the picturesque Brixham harbour since 1964. Although it is just a replica, visitors can experience what life was like aboard a Tudor ship.

Berry Head Country Park
This is Torbay’s vital wildlife site and is ranked in England’s 200 National Nature Reserves. It showcases several species of rare and endangered plants and is also home to a variety of birds, bats, moths, dragonflies and butterflies. Berry Head is also the site of two Napoleonic war era fortifications built between 1795 and 1806.

Greenway Ferry and Pleasure Cruises
This is the home of the World War 2 Heritage Ship – Fairmile and nine other sea and river boats and offers fantastic boat trips, excursions and ferry services in the English Riviera and River Dart. In 2010, Greenway Ferry was awarded Quality Visitor Attraction by Visit Britain.

The Deep Exhibition
This attraction is primarily aimed at children under 16 and is a unique nautical adventure. It enables children the opportunity to learn about life underwater amidst a fun environment. At The Deep Exhibition you can dive to the depths and see fish and sharks in the ‘bathysphere’ and explore a sunken pirate ship.

Elberry Cove
This is a gorgeous secluded shingle beach surrounded by woodlands. It is popular for swimmers and water-skiers as well as explorers who would prefer to take a walk in the woods nearby.

These are just a few attractions that Brixham offers. Visit Brixham hotels for more information about hotels in Brixham.
