Transportation of the harmful goodsis not only limited to roadways, but there are several other modes that can also be opted for, such as, waterways and airways. Depending upon the mode of transportation that is used, there are organizations which take care of the safety while the goods are moved. For instance, one is the IMDG or International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code and the other one is the IATA or International Air Transport Association. The IMDG is concerned with providing safety when the hazmat goods are transported via ocean, while the latter deals with safety measures required while the transportation of the hazardous materials by air.

Whenever any mishap occurs while moving the products from one place to another, the threat is posed to the environment that is the habitat of all kinds of creatures on earth. From the terrestrial to aquatic to arboreal organisms, everyone’s life is threatened when an accident takes place during the movement of the dangerous goods. The residences of the people are the known home of any individual, but the actual dwelling of the creatures on the planets is the environment. Thus, to provide protection to the environment, the professionals concerned with the movement of the dangerous goods are given proper training so that they could manage the situation efficiently without any complications.

In case of the IATA, the safety measures are different from that of other modes. The professionals are provided training on the different means of protecting the goods from being affected during any mishap. The professionals after the completion of the training need to sit for a written examination, passing which will entitle them to receive a certificate proving their expertise in handling the process effectively. This certificate is required to be renewed at an interval of every three years. The training schedule is completely based on the DGR or Dangerous Goods Regulation of the International Air Transport Association.
