Age-old Remedies Can Make Great Natural Acne Treatments
Acne has plagued mankind since the beginning of time. Long before science started making chemical acne treatments, people were finding natural ingredients in their own homes to help cure their breakouts.
One such method is to wash your face once in the morning and once at night with lukewarm salty water. Soap can dry out your face which will make the acne worse, but salts can help remove the oils without drying your skin. Many people swear by aloe vera juice, which can be squeezed out of an aloe plant or bought at a health store. Aloe can sooth your skin and help heal acne scars. Cucumber paste is also effective, as it helps to hydrate the skin. It should be left on the skin for 30 to 45 minutes, then washed off.
A lesser- known natural acne treatment is to rub a cut tomato on the skin, and leave the juice for 15 minutes. This can be effective in fighting blackheads by opening the pores, and is especially good for oily skin. You can also look to your spice rack for an effective treatment; mix nutmeg with milk to make a mask and apply it to the affected area.
Egg whites are a good natural acne treatment, ...
... as well. Simply separate the yoke from the white, and apply the white to the face before going to bed. Wash it off in the morning, and your skin will have a healthy glow. You may want to apply ice your face before going to bed at night, which can reduce inflammation and reduce the burning that some acne can cause.
One natural acne treatment that I’ve found effective is to dab a small amount of toothpaste on a pimple to help dry it out. This can work in as little as a few hours.
The key to fighting acne is to be assertive. Raid your kitchen cupboards to find a natural acne treatment that works for your skin today!
