Toyota Brings Hybrid Technology To Sports Cars

Fuel efficiency is one of the most important aspects of a vehicle that most car buyers are after for right now. This was probably due to the continuous increase on the prices of gasoline. Aside from this, the growing awareness towards the harsh effects of gas emissions from gas-powered vehicles has also encouraged most car finders to look for fuel-efficient cars.
These issues have also forced car makers to produce hybrids that consume smaller amounts of gas. As time goes by, many car makers such as Toyota has produced hybrid vehicles and offered specialized auto loans for these to attract buyers. This eventually led to the popularity of hybrid drive systems that are commonly used in cars, SUVs, and pickups.
However, the present status of the hybrid drive system might eventually change. This is because Toyota is exploring the possibility that this system would also be used in high performance sports car. This idea might sound ambitious but this Japanese car maker has actually accomplished something. They have recently ...
... announced that they were able to produce a sports car that makes use of hybrid technology and the company gave this vehicle with the name “GRMN Hybrid Concept II.”
The GRMN Hybrid Concept II is actually the product of a joint venture between Toyota and Gazoo Racing. This vehicle weighs about 3,300 pounds and is powered by a V6 gasoline engine. Aside from this, the Concept II has an electric motor that provides power to the front wheels of its all-wheel drive system. The installation of the electric motor contributes an additional 50 horsepower to the V6 engine bringing the combined maximum power output of the Concept II to 295 horsepower.
Since this is just a concept car, it is expected to take a few more years before this vehicle hits the road or offered for sale in the market. To test this model’s endurance, Toyota would make use of the Nurburging endurance race that would last for 24 hours this weekend.
Given this information, Toyota might be one of the first car makers to produce a hybrid sports car. However, they still need t subject this to a series of test to ensure the vehicle’s reliability and this means buyers should wait until Toyota is ready to release this on the market and provide the company’s new car quotes for this vehicle.
