A Russian Tu-134 Crashed In Karelia Killing 44 People

Latest reports said a Russian private airline RusAir's Tu-134 was out of touch around midnight after it took off from Moscow Domodedovo International Airport at local time 22:30 on June 20, carrying 43 passengers and 9 flight crews. It was forced to land on a road 2 Km away from its destination, Petrozavodsk Airport, Republic of Karelia, and broke apart and burned as a drastic hit on the ground, causing a destructive damage to the fuselage. 44 were killed and the rest were badly injured, rushed to hospital for treatment. The black boxes have been found. Investigators preliminarily determined the crash was a result of manipulation faults and atrocious weather conditions.

A total of 852 Tu-134s were built of all versions (including test bed examples) with Aeroflot as the largest user.
