When choosing fight shorts there are a number of criteria that you want to look for to make sure you get a quality pair. This is not the most "in your face" piece of gear, however any fighter that doesn't understand importance of this critical piece of equipment will miss out. Most fighters that I hang around are not that good with fashion, so take some tips from me on how to pick the best fight shorts for you.

The first item you want to make sure of is the waistband. You want a band that is functional, yet very tight so that they stay where you want them throughout the fight. A lot of shorts companies manufacturer pants that have a waistband technology so that your shorts won't get caught around your legs or come down. Most of them are very top notch, but you will want to select the style that best fits your body type.

For any committed fighter, sweaty pants can spell disaster in a fight. Choose a pair of fight shorts with one of the 'state of the art' technologies to wick away your sweat and maybe even blood (hopefully, the opponent's). Usually the pants that have the highest quality fabrics for this ...
... will also be more expensive, but it is an investment in your training.

Research how your pants fit very closely before you buy them so that they will be the best for you. The more flexible the fabric is the more likely it will move with your actions and not rub your skin. This is a very annoying part of fighting, that can drastically effect a match, if poor quality pants are used. You will be unhappy with yourself, if you lose a match because you are concentrating on your chafing and not how you are fighting.

In the end, you want your shorts to be durable enough to take the punishment that will happen in a typical boxing or MMA match. Two criteria to make sure you have are double stitching and side split seams; both of which prevent your shorts from falling apart at key times. Plus, a fabric that stretches moves more as you fight, so this will also help the shorts to be able to be used longer. Don't be the guy or woman who loses your ambitions MMA or boxing match, because your fight shorts are causing you trouble. Don't make a mistake and get cheap on the quality of your shorts to save a few dollars.
