Privacy Protection While Blogging
Personal blogs are like private diaries merged with a newspaper, which means they are a perfect tool to share your personal thoughts to readers worldwide. If you are one of those who blog, there are no guarantees that you will attract thousands of readers. Yet at least few readers will find your blog and they may be your friends, colleagues, neighbors, spouse or partner, family and anyone who is curious enough to find your name, screen name or email.
Many bloggers need to understand that what they write stays around forever, and a lot of people will either completely ignore your write-up or take it completely seriously. That is why you need to understand the consequences and privacy issues before writing up front!
Pseudonyms Don't make you Anonymous
A lot of people believe that they are protecting online privacy by using a pseudonym but sooner or later you are likely to make your identity quite easy to discover. Avoid commenting on political sites or blogs and do not share too much information about your personal life ...
... or thoughts even if you have used a pseudonym in your blog. Even though you play it safe and use a unique pseudonym, you need to be aware of the facts you give of your life because personal details such as where you live, your phone numbers and what you do in your free time makes it fairly easy for somebody researching a real person to connect it to the online identity.
Keep your Photos private
Along with writing, photo sharing is one of the major ways to share your day to day activities. Many bloggers do not understand that, once shared and cached by Google, it is difficult or may be impossible to delete photos from search engines and there is a chance that you will not be as proud of your drunken party photos, a love triangle or a break up story 6 months from now. It might also create a negative impression on a company you’d applied for or a guy you met and are really interested in.
Conclusion
Keep in mind that blogging is supposed to be remarkable and exciting and you don’ need to be an open book in front of millions of strangers. But if you do choose that route, make sure to use online privacy protection by choosing options such as privacy on blogs, privacy on Wordpress and privacy on internet services!
