Opening a new business has been an exciting challenge. We opened a silkscreen printing company, nothing big though. One of the first challenges that we had to overcome was the ability to collaborate on different designs easily from multiple locations within our building. Now with the ability to network like we have, we have been progressively moving our company toward a new future. We are now no longer able to take any custom work because our entire workflow and volume is dedicated to our signature pieces of work. My whole point is that with some elbow grease, a whole lot of elbow grease, and the right tools and equipment, it's possible to reach any goal. It's easy to become discouraged and down when the never ending long hours don't seem to be paying off very much. It's just kind of the way things are for those who work in the independent business world.

There are many perks though that comes with being your own company. The growth and development of the business is completely within your control. As a company owner, when things go wrong or aren't successful, you have the sole responsibility and power to change things. I have been very lucky to work with a terrific team that has been able to help provide constructive criticism all along the way. Networking as a team and working together has made all of my company's growth possible.
