Garage Doors; Up & Over We Go!
Over here on UK daytime television there seems to be a large amount of programs dedicated to making some money, be it small amounts through shows like 'Bargain Hunt' or 'Cash in the Attic', to much larger and more prosperous investments such as property, and it was while watching one of the latter types of program called 'Homes Under the Hammer', when I realised that many people were buying shabby houses in an arguably nice neighbourhood, and this got me to thinking. If people are able to improve their house and its value with a few domestic touches and paint, surely we could do the same with the neighbourhoods that we live in, especially if they are quite run down areas. Initially I thought about some of the challenges that would come with this, such as how to raise the money for a community to do this, but I think that it can be done by the individuals who live in that area, rather than an organised group like a county council.
I'm sure it doesn't need a council to ensure that the streets aren't filled with litter, just one to take the bins away. Another way in which the neighbourhood could be made to look nicer, thus ...
... improving all of the properties value in that area, would be through presenting their house fronts in a respectable manner, maybe by including a garden, and a garage with a nice garage door. Simply by making the area look nice with aesthetic choices on the front of their houses, people may believe its a nicer area to live and house prices may rise as a result.
Even if you don't plan on selling your house, surely having an electric garage door would be useful for you in a practical sense, and also in the aesthetic sense, because not many people want to come home to a shabby surrounding, as it may remind them of all the improvements they may need to make to their home.
In many cases, I understand that it may not be practical to include a garden or a set of garage doors, due to space, or living in a flat but there are ways to help make the area nicer, and while it may not be as effective as having a garage or a garden, you can still help the community by tidying it up a bit. You may even make a few friends in the process.
