After more than twenty years of doing something, you come to learn what to expect. As a day trader for a few decades, this is exactly what has happened to me. Hi, I’m Eddie Z, author of How to Buy a Trading Computer and Save Thousands. Through the course of my experience, I’ve discovered many technologies that have made a positive impact in my day-to-day efficiency and accuracy, and also, many that have done just the opposite. I’m talking of course about a Computer For Trading .

There are a handful of specifics that can make huge differences in the way your machine will handle, and today I’m going to run through an overview of a few of them.

Let’s start with the processor. The processor is like a great boxer: needs to be fast on its feet, but also pack a mean punch full of power. The minimum consideration for a processor should be the Intel Core i7 series. Anything smaller will be insufficient as a computer for trading. The i7 2600k is one of Intel’s latest models and early indicators suggest it’s among the elite.

Next is RAM. Every machine needs ...
... enough RAM to run properly, but in a computer for trading it’s even more crucial. The multitasking nature a trader’s activities mean the standard RAM isn’t usually going to work. I recommend at least doubling it, making 6GB the bare bones bottom, and up to 12GB dependent on your typical usage.

While we’re talking RAM, let’s mention operating systems also. Not everyone realizes this, but, if you operate with a 32-bit system, even if you have more RAM the machine is only built to recognize 3GB of it, regardless of how much is installed. In my opinion, a 64-bit is really the way to go as a trader.

You can’t talk Trading Computer components without considering speed, and these days, the machine isn’t the only factor to consider. You Internet connection can be a humongous road block if you’re not careful. A 5MB/s connection is minimal, and trying to connect with less will jam up your signal, and as everyone knows, a downed connection compounds all sorts of issues. The higher the speed, the better. A trading machine will always make the most of it.

There is so much technology out there that is available these days that it is unreasonable to not take advantage. Using a trading computer means downloading and uploading massive amounts of information every day, a spot in which technology can truly shine.
