Nissan’s Top Executives Enjoys Higher Pays
Nissan is actually the second largest car maker in Japan with Toyota on the top spot. This simply means that these two car makers are in to a neck-to neck competition in terms of sales, production of vehicles that attracts most new car finders, and in providing the best auto financing deals for its customers. However, one of the most recent news which hit several media entities in Japan and on other countries has caught almost every car finder and experts by surprise. The news has actually revealed a shocking truth about the payments that Nissan’s highest ranking executives are receiving each year.
A recent report from Bloomberg stated that the top executives of Nissan Motors are receiving relatively higher payments compared to other Japanese car makers such as Honda and Toyota. As a matter of fact, most of these executives are receiving monthly salaries that are twice the amount that their Honda and Toyota counterparts are receiving.
Nissan has ...
... previously presented on its annual meeting held last June 29, 2011 that the company has paid 14 of its high ranking executives with an average total of $1.6 million. This amount is relatively higher than what the 38 executives of Toyota composed of its directors and auditors.
Given these figures, Nissan’s Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn is currently considered as the highest paid CEO among the Japanese-based car makers that were able to declare the salaries of its executives. He currently receives a total of $11.1 million per year. Despite the criticisms thrown against Nissan’s payment scheme, Ghosn is confident that this is just fair since these individuals are major force behind the company’s current success.
When asked for possible explanations for this impressive payment scheme, most car experts would point out that this might be the result of the company’s sales increase for this year’s first three months. Record shows that the global sales of the company have risen by up to 16%. Toyota’s global sales on the other hand have soared down by 12 percent which is considered to be the company’s lowest figure for the last 18 months.
