Visiting Rio De Janeiro In July Part 2
Welcome back for the second and final part of our extensive article where we will continue to review some of the things that you can do in Rio de Janeiro next month. In the first part of the article we’ve discussed the most important weekly; monthly and annual events that will be organized in Rio this upcoming July and now where are going to make a few suggestions about some of the places that you can visit.
On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week, you can drop by to visit the Ilha Fiscal Palace. This gothic place was built back in 1889 at the request of the king and now it is a naval museum, featuring stained glass windows that recount the history of the Brazilian royal family. The castle was built by Adolpho Del Vecchio and it hosted the last imperial ball. The address for the castle is: Av. Alfredo Agache (behind Praça XV).
If you enjoy spending time in nature, make sure that you visit the Parque da Catacumba, which is a beautiful scenic park that features an open-air museum with more than 30 sculptures. To complement these beautiful artworks, original ornamental species have been selected carefully. ...
... The address for the park is: 3000 Av Epitácio Pessoa (between Copacabana & Humaitá), Lagoa.
For those of you that enjoy surfing or hiking, a good place to visit would have to be the Guaratiba, which is surrounded by marshlands that are home to various herons. You will find lots of pleasure and fishing boats, along with seafood restaurants.
If you are looking to spend an evening in a gay nightclub, Le Boy would have to be the best spot for you. Opened back in 1992, you will find resident DJs that play classic tunes. It is a funky and spacious European-style club and you can find it at Rua Raul Pompeia, 102, Copacabana.
Located in the up-market Sao Conrado, the Fashion Mall is considered to be the most exclusive shopping mall in all Rio de Janeiro, where lots of the Brazilian designers have an outlet. There are more than 140 shops there, along with restaurants, cinemas and fast food outlets. The address is: 899 Estrada da Gàvea, São Conrado.
The Rio Scenarium is a three-storey concert house, which has been decorated from top to bottom in antiques and curious pieces of art and is the home where two live bands play samba, MPB and choro. The wine list is very generous and the menu is quite impressive. The address is: 20 Rua do Lavradio, Centro.
Another place where you can go is Gafieira Estudantina which is a sophisticated place where you can enjoy live samba and choro bands (on Friday/Saturday nights). The address is: 79/81 Praça Tiradentes, Centro.
Our last recommendation is Cais do Oriente, where you can eat Oriental and Mediterranean dishes. They preserved parts of the original building which was made out of bricks and whale oil. It also has rattan furniture, carved wood, along with beautiful decorative details. The address is: 8 Rua Visconde de Itaboraí, Centro 20010-060.
