Famous Celebrity Athletes Storm Paris - French Open Tennis 2011

The first round of the French Open began yesterday and all the world’s most famous tennis athletes descended upon Paris. Novak Djokovic continued his incredible winning ways by advancing to the second round in straight sets over Thiemo de Bakker, 6-2,6-1,6-3. Djokovic has yet to lose a match this year and is just a couple matches shy of John McEnroe's record of 42 straight wins. As one of America’s mostFamous Athletesin the tennis world, McEnroe thinks that Djokovic’s string of victories in even more impressive than his own incredible run.
The current number one American tennis player, Mardy Fish was impressive in his win today as well. The new Babolat tennis balls may help the American athletes this year because of their lightness and accelerated bounce through the French clay.
The biggest upset thus far would have to be that of last years semifinalist and famous Czech athlete, Thomas Berdych. Berdych lost to France’s newest celebrity athlete, Stephane Robert in five sets.
On the women's side, American Bethanie Mattek Sands ...
... had a tremendous come from behind victory. She is looking really solid this year. American, Melanie Oudin unfortunately lost to defending champion and the most famous tennis athlete in Italy, Francesca Schiavone, in her first match.
John Isner turned it on in Paris by taking French Open Champion Rafael Nadal to five sets. Isner amazingly was leading Nadal two sets to one before Nadal had had enough of this and decided to storm back and take the final two sets in true Nadal fashion. Nadal was flying all over the court like superman and left Isner stunned and scratching his head trying to figure out what happened to his lead and potential upset. That said you gotta give props to Isner, who is really making a push to enter the top of the tennis world with his recent grand slam performances. He is already going down in history for playing the longest tennis match in history at last years Wimbledon.
Superstar doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan can do a chest bump today as they advance to the next round at the French Open. They showed true grit on the famous French clay as they came back in the third set to defeat their pesky rivals. Good luck to the Bryan Brothers as they seek another French open championship.
Andy Murray did Britain proud as he swept into the second round of the French Open by defeating upstart French qualifier Eric Prodon in three straight sets. Murray devastated his opponent with sharp backhands and crushing serves to overwhelm the young French competitor.
