Different Types Of Snoring Aids And Ways They Can Help People With Sleep Apnea

Snoring is a problem that is faced by many people who have sleep apnea. This is a problem that can be very disturbing for those around as well as the snorer. Snoring is caused due to an obstruction in the airways, which could be due to some abnormalities in the nasal structures, obstruction caused by the soft tissues, or due to a problem in the brain where there are no signals from the brain to the muscles to take a breath. It is important to use snoring aids to prevent this sleep disorder. Sleep disturbances could lead to many major health problems such as hypertension or high blood pressure, heart attacks, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, irregular heart rate, pulmonary hypertension, or even result in loss of life. Hence, it is imperative that people with sleep apnea choose the right type of snoring aids to keep this problem at bay.
During the initial stages of sleep apnea, the person may experience just the milder symptoms such as irritability, depression, anxiety, daytime sleepiness and fatigue, loss of memory, headaches, insomnia and difficulty in performing tasks. But as the days progress, it could lead to ...
... major health issues that could be life threatening. Hence, it is important to correct the problem with the use of some of the simple snoring aids that will not only help in addressing the problem but will promote better sleep and prevent the onset of other disease conditions.
There are plenty of snoring aids that are available in the market. But not every snoring aid will work for every person. There are some of these aids that will work better for some people, while there might be those that don't. If these aids and conventional treatments fail to bring about desired results, then the next best thing would be the surgical option.
Some of the external snoring aids include the use of a chin strap or jaw supporter, chin cushion, chin-up strap, or the use of a medical tape. The chin strap helps in keeping the mouth closed and leaves the airways open in the throat. The chin cushion is a device which sits beneath the chin and helps prevent the mouth from falling open. The chin-up strap is a disposable tape which is fitted under the mouth and helps the wearer in keeping their mouths closed at night. The medical tape is certainly one that is not meant for the faint hearted because this will tape your mouth shut. There are many other snoring aids that work in a similar way to curb snoring.
The other set of snoring aids are the nasal breathing aids. This works on the principle where the nasal passages are cleared and this helps cut down the snoring. Nasal breathing snoring aids includes the use of nasal strips, nasal clips, and nasal brace. The nasal strips are tapes with a small piece of plastic which is stuck over the nose and helps keep the airways open. The nasal brace is something that is inserted into the nose to keep the airways open.
Nasal decongestants are snoring aids that are specifically designed to clear the obstructions in the mucous membranes and help clear the nose. There is also something known as the snoring spray which helps lubricate and tightens the muscles in the throat which helps stop snoring. These are all effective snoring aids that help those with sleep apnea overcome the problem effectively.
