Ferrari 458 Italia Control Systems, Abs And Ferrari Pre-fill Logic

Ferrari 458 Italia E-Diff aims to continuously and cleverly distribute torque to the rear wheels (both in Power-Off in the corner entering phase and in Power-On in the exiting corner phase) in order to guarantee excellent vehicle stability and control under all driving and surface conditions. It also offers a better stability-agility compromise than a mechanical system, yielding both a feeling of boosted sportiness and more précising cornering. More than ever, the E-Diff3 work closer with the F1-Trac exploiting a series of its parameters and predictions in all the manettino positions. Such evolution delivers improved torque distribution coming out of corners which consequently is translated into improved grip and better vehicle reactions under extreme performance situations. What sets the F1-Trac apart from a traditional control system is its ability to estimate grip level with such accuracy that allows the 458 Italia to be driven to its full potential at high performance driving conditions. The F1-Trac guarantees maximum grip out of bends, smooth and steady handling even in extreme conditions, more progressive driving and ...
... ride comfort.
The Ferrari 458 Italia offers even improved braking efficiency than the 8-cylinder that preceded it, delivering stunning stopping distances of 100km/h in 32.5meters and 200km/h in 128 meters. Such braking performance is a combination of multiple factors. The development and optimization of the braking system in collaboration with Bosch, for example, enhance grip and help the ECU to prevent the wheels from locking and the car from skidding. The evolution of the Ferrari Pre-Fill logic minimizes response times from the instant the accelerator pedal is released to the start of braking. Specific calibration of the ABS for medium/high grip surfaces and specifically developed tires are also another factor that enhances braking performance. Integration of the ABS with the E-Diff3, when it is activated during braking, guarantees a more accurate estimate of vehicle speed, improved braking control and enhanced vehicle stability.
The Ferrari Pre-Fill logic reduces response times by activating the pistons in the calipers, thus minimizing the gap between the brake pad and the disc as soon as the driver lifts off the accelerator. The response is thus blistering fast and efficient. Pre-Fill is instigated when torque delivery is interrupted as the accelerator pedal is released. The pistons are rolled back once the driver puts his foot back on the accelerator, giving the feeling of an enhanced responsiveness and results in shorter braking distances. Drag resistance and fuel consumption are also reduced.
As every new Ferrari, the 458 Italia has a unique design approach and technology innovations to achieve indisputable performance and driving experience. Inquiry about the Ferrari 458 today at Authorized Ferrari dealers.
