Car safety is one of the most important aspects of the car that most buyers would consider before buying their own. This is because getting a vehicle with excellent safety features could help new car finder s pay lower insurance premiums as well as minimize the chances of getting serious injuries in the event of accident or collision.

Due to this, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is doing its best to test almost all vehicles that every car finder might purchase in straight-cash or through auto financing deals offered by dealerships and lenders. This simply means that NHTSA conducts crash tests on conventional as well as hybrid vehicles.

In connection to this, the NHTSA has recently announced that they were able to subject the Chevy Volt into a series of crash test to explore its capacity to withstand the damages that a collision might cause on the vehicle and its occupants. NHTSA also conducted the newest crash test procedures on ...
... the Volt such as the 20 miles per hour side crash test using a pole which is 10 inches in diameter. In addition to this, the Volt was also subjected to the 38 miles per hour side crash barrier test. The administration also used the traditional side, front, and rear tests on this model and based their ratings from all of these.

Surprisingly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Chevy Volt a five-star rating. This rating placed the Chevy Volt in history since this is the first time that an electric vehicle has garnered the five-star rating.

Car experts and other observers pointed out that the rating obtained by the Volt was probably caused by its reliable safety features such as the airbags that were installed on the side, front, knee, and roof portion of the vehicle. In addition to this, the Volt uses StabiliTrak which is a stability control system created by General Motors.

Given this rating, Chevrolet expects the Volt’s safety rating would help boost its sales. In addition to this, the recent rating from the NHTSA would also prove that the hazards thrown against electric vehicles such as the danger of electrocution and weak tolerance against collisions were not true.
