Finding the best computer CPU is most important thing for a computer system. In this article are some specifications of recent computer CPU’s. They have been described according to the brand, performance, type, speed so that you can start working on your computer immediately.

Brand:
You have two choices here: Intel or AMD. Both companies offer great products that will satisfy your needs. Simply make sure to research the pros and cons of each company’s products before making a choice on one. Most people get used to one or like one in particular just because it was the first one they have used or built before. The first computer I built had an AMD CPU processor and for a while I favored them. Over time I started to build them with whatever was the best for the situation and realized that both are equal in many respects.

Series:
Then you should look at the series of computer CPU. The most recent serious are Core 2 Duo, Core i7, Athlon 64 x2, Phenom II x4 etc.

Core:
This indicates the cpu core that the computer cpu is based on. More recent cores will usually ...
... bring increased performance, reduced power consumption for the same performance compared to an older core, along with new features.

You’ll usually notice that a core is associated with a particular series. The core is a good indicator of performance, before considering other important factors such as frequency (speed in GHz) and cache (Very fast onboard CPU memory) that is.

A few examples from AMD:

Regor (Athlon II X2)
Deneb (Phenom II X4)
Propus (Athlon II X4)

From Intel:

Wofldale (Core 2 Duo E6300, E7xxx and E8xxx)
Yorkfield (Core 2 Quad Q8xxx and Q9xxx)
Nehalem (Socket 1366 i7)
Lynnfield (Socket 1156 i5 and i7)

Note that those were only a few examples, not an extensive list of all cores from AMD and Intel.

Multi-core: Dual, Triple or Quad Core:
Back a few years ago, Intel and AMD would raise the performance of their cpus by raising the frequency and would put most of their marketing emphasis on that frequency. Eventually, they both hit a speed wall, making it very difficult to go beyond a certain speed.
Here I have drawn a recent model CPU specification:

Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition :

The Bottom Line: Thanks to an expensive new motherboard requirement, Intel's new Core i7 desktop processors will remain enthusiast and professional-level parts until more affordable complementary hardware comes out later next year. Speed never comes cheap, however, and if you're willing to spend for it now, you'll find yourself in possession of the fastest CPU on the market.
Specs: Processor, FC-LGA8, Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition i7-965

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650:

The Bottom Line: The CPU market is due for a lot of upheaval over the next 12 months, so you might be wise to wait for a clearer picture before plunking down $1,000 or so on Intel's new Core 2 Extreme QX9650 quad-core desktop processor. But if you want to claim ownership of the fastest multicore CPU around today, look no further.
Specs: Processor, Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650

AMD Phenom X4 9850 (2.5GHz):

The Bottom Line: AMD's new Phenom X4 9850 is overpriced and outclassed compared with its Intel-based quad-core competition. If PC vendors can use this chip to make cheap systems (as they did with older Phenoms), we might have nicer things to say, but as a DIY part at this price, we can't recommend AMD's latest quad-core CPU.
Specs: Processor, AMD Phenom X4 9850

Finally, whether you choose an AMD CPU or Intel CPU makes no real difference. What is important that you choose what is right for your needs. My CPU reviews will help guide you to find that perfect computer CPU that you will love for what could be a long time if you plan on using them as long as I have.
