The word landscapes actually draw from from the Dutch, and it stands for a patch of a cultivated land. This word came into the English language in the 17th century, mainly as a term used for works of art. The word landscape was not used to describe the real areas present on earth before 1725.The word landscape in fact depicts the discernible features of an area of land. The landscape includes the physical elements, the living elements, human elements, building and structures and also the transitory elements. The physical elements include the mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, plateaus and the sea. The living elements that are a part of landscape include various kinds of vegetation and plantation present on the earth. The human elements include the different way in which land is used by humans, the structures and buildings constructed. Moreover, the landscape also includes the transitory elements such as the lighting and weather conditions on the earth.

The earth is full of a variety of landscapes and this variety of landscapes provides the diversity and the beauty to the earth. The earth has the icy landscapes present at the polar region; it has the mountainous landscapes, the desert landscapes, islands and the coastal landscapes. There are also landscapes that have dense forests such as the tropical rainforests present at the Equator. In addition, there are also agricultural landscapes present in the temperate and the tropical areas of the earth.
Landscape art is also practiced in the world which depicts the different landscapes present on the earth. Natural sceneries are made in landscape art of the mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, deserts and forests. The sky and weather are also the part of most of the natural sceneries present in the landscape art. If the main purpose of a picture is to show the actual and specific space, it is called the topographical view.
Landscape photography is also a part of the landscape art and it became extremely prominent since the 19th century. Landscape photography is a genre that shows the different spaces around the world, which are sometimes very vast and sometimes they are also microscopic. These landscapes photographs usually are based on the natural sceneries and are usually taken of places that are free from human impacts and changes. Landscape photographers do not only want the viewers of photographs to see these landscapes, but they also want these viewers of photographs to appreciate the variety of landscapes on earth. The landscape photographers are not only motivated by the love of art, but also by the wish to save the environment.
