The Seagull Eye

Lend the cut to purge the mind, lend the burning tongue that binds. Chatter off like the seagulls who mock and scrounge, who never shut their beaks till sustenance is found. Leave the bits of hard bread for the pests to find, leave the jam and turkey for the silent man confound to his thoughts of past what the birds have seen. Seagulls may have seen the great lands as they have flown, as they experience the grand feeling of flight. Though the ground bound man has never traveled nor flown he has known much more though he be old and worn. A bird has no insight to enjoy what they see, they have no imagination to love the places they go. The man has dreamed greater places then the birds will every know, and has flown far higher then the birds could ever hope to be. Let the streaks of white be the speed off the fat seagull, and let the silent man sit soundly still on the sand. Feathers fly like bird sweat in the fight between two for food and power, yet they will never understand how it feels to be hugged by another, to taste another's bitter sadness in your mouth and to seep in the fellow other's joy ...
... that radiates from their eyes so deep. The birds eyes are round and black, like cold little pebbles, that can only see what's solid and ready. The man's eyes are swollen with thought, pupils wide and color striking, wet and wondering, memories that never leave, and worries of time to come for his soul. Worries of destruction of his will and the burning pot that all seem to wish to place him in. Greater then millions of birds, ten million, so many, greater is one man then the fate of many birds, and so much greater is the love that is harbored unselfish, greater then any animal that creeps or any fish that swims...so far greater is him.
