Often, we come across people who react differently to situations than the average person. Their levels of endurance seem quite low, and they have unusual physical and interpersonal sensitivities, which can be hard for others to understand. They are categorized medically as highly sensitive people (HSP).

Highly sensitive people have different needs because they are biologically different. According to a leading authority on HSP, Elaine Aron, one in every five persons is a highly sensitive person. While there is a common misconception that HSP's exhibit sensitive symptoms because of high emotionality, the reality is quite different. The difference lies with the sensitive's nervous system, which absorbs more sensory input than it does in a normal person.

For highly sensitive people, special care must be taken to handle their stress and health-related issues. This can prove to be highly challenging in the absence of proper resources and knowledge. They have many inherent disorders that are made worse by the effects of stress. It can affect their decision-making abilities and severely hamper their ability to function ...
... normally in their professional as well as personal lives. There is an imperative need to draw up an effective stress management program to minimize the stress disorders problems that they have develop.

If you look at global figures, the number of HSP's is around 15 to 20 percent of the population, and that amounts to a whopping one billion people. When viewed from an entirely different perspective, HSP sensitivity provides individuals with the capability to see and experience what others may miss. Non-HSP people may not have the sensitivity to see a particular situation from a different angle. As a result, HSP's play an important role in improving the quality of our lives through their capacity for nuanced insights, though because they are often underappreciated, they are often not aware of their value to society.

Highly sensitive people must be educated to realize that their biology is quite different from others. It is quite possible that the trait runs in families and that they may suffer from genetic diseases too. It is extremely necessary to understand their biology for maintaining good health, both physical and mental, for such individuals. As they are oversensitive to stimulus received by the central nervous system, its overstimulation advertently or inadvertently can cause potentially serious health conditions.

Highly sensitive people can have problems with bright lights, noise, certain types of fabrics and even electromagnetic devices. They can feel uncomfortable in a crowd, and their introverted behavior at social gatherings can be hard for friends and family members to understand.

Because of the susceptibility of their nervous systems to stress and genetic diseases, stress reducers are imperative to minimize and prevent such conditions. Quality self-care is the greatest need for sensitive individuals since illness can quickly get out of hand because of the lack of natural defense mechanisms. Alternative health care systems can be used by highly sensitive people to protect them from inadvertent self-abuse and to improve the functions of their nervous systems.

Highly sensitive people need to take special care of their stress and health needs because they can be overwhelmed by stress problems. stress and health An effective stress plan is necessary to keep them in good physical and psychological health.
