What Are My Options In Playa Del Carmen Real Estate?

When people think of Playa del Carmen real estate, they usually think of condos on the beachfront. While these are most certainly an excellent option, there is a good variety of property styles which allow Americans and Canadians to enjoy this city’s provincial/European lifestyle atmosphere. The following are a few examples.

Beachfront condos – As mentioned just above, this is the one that pops into everyone’s mind. However, it is worth noting that in Playa del Carmen, beachfront condo buildings, just like all others, all low-rise, with a limit of 4 stories. This fact, combined with a large number of European residents (especially from Italy), offers the area a distinctly European flavor, which comes out in the style of the main shopping and dining area – Fifth Avenue, running parallel to the beach.

Little Italy condos – For the same reason just mentioned, the residential area in north end of downtown has also gained a distinctly European flavor; hence it is called “Little Italy.” With a wide selection of nice condos for good prices, the ...
... neighborhood is quiet, picturesque, and walking distance to everything, including a Walmart, another supermarket, local vegetable markets, cafes and bakeries, local Mexican restaurants, sushi shops and, of course, Fifth Avenue.

Golf-course properties – Playa del Carmen has already been called the capital of golf for Latin America, and this role is only growing. Along with challenging, professionally-designed courses, very fine real estate options – condos, homes and lots – have been introduced and are currently available in a number of upscale gated communities.

Fixer-upper homes – Since Playa del Carmen is a very new community, few project-loving people think of this community as an option for a renovation project. A few areas, however, which were settled and built up by some of the first workers to arrive to the area, are very close to the beach (5 minute walk) and offer well-built homes that are in need of a loving touch.

Lots – In a market that has already had a few years of booming growth, lots in the central area – traditionally the most popular among expats – have become quite high priced. This makes most people assume that there are no land opportunities left. This is anything but correct. Just for the reason that the city is still growing rapidly, lots in newly developing areas offer potential for very high appreciation. New gated communities, including golf course communities, also offer excellent options for lots to build on.

When you are considering your Playa del Carmen real estate, remember to consider all the options available.
