Your Troubled Teen Can Get Teen Help When It's Needed
By removing a troubled teen from what may have turned into a damaging environment, you can get your teen the teen help that he or she needs.
Surrounded by negative influences of drugs, sex, and violence, some teens have trouble making appropriate decisions. Between peer pressure and what teens see in the media, there are a lot of negative influences on teens and their families. There can be big problems when troubled teens stop listening to their parents or going to them for guidance. If teens are not held accountable for their actions, they may cease growing emotionally.
A troubled teen may act like he or she knows everything, but often there is a lack of self-esteem on the inside. By fixing their decision-making skills, troubled teens get a boost in their self-confidence.
Some teens are suffering from depression or experiencing trouble with substance abuse. Some teens begin getting into trouble at school or with the law if they have difficulty with authority figures. By being separated from their negative community and getting a fresh start at another location, this type of troubled teen will ...
... have a chance to thrive.
My daughter had begun showing signs of anger and bad decision-making. Her grades dropped, and I was surprised how quickly she got out of control. After she got arrested for shoplifting, there were some nights when she didn't stay at home. My family needed to find a way to help her.
Wilderness therapy was a source for teen help when nothing else seemed to help my daughter. She says that the challenging program was the best thing that ever happened to her.
Once troubled teens are placed in a wilderness therapy program, they acquire skills necessary to survive in the wilderness. They also learn the skills required to make appropriate decisions. Being out in the wilderness will keep them separated from distractions so they can focus on who they are. They also will be able to learn to start thinking about the needs of others as they work as a group to solve problems. They will develop leadership and decision-making skills as well.
By allowing teens to acquire bravery, self-discipline, and a work ethic, wilderness therapy offers teen help.
Look for a program with excellent safety procedures, an experienced staff, and a well-developed curriculum if you think that wilderness therapy could help your troubled teen. Troubled teens can earn academic credits in language arts, nutrition, and other subjects by completing the curriculum at some programs. After getting teen help, teens can return to their parents and community ready to be healthy, happy, and successful.
