American scientists researched the availability of nutrients in all dietary produce to find out the degree of risk of cardiovascular diseases and obesity for people who keep to a diet.

The group of healthy men was proposed to choose one of two different diets: sparing diet characterized by increased consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole-wheat products and poultry meat; and “western” diet with increased intake of meat, fatty diary produce and peeled grain. Eighty two participants of researches were from 40 to 75 years old. They filled in the questionnaires about food and way of life every four year since 1986 to 1994. The research of diets was correlated by the presence of certain biomarkers (cholesterin, insulin, leptin, etc.) in blood.
These biomarkers depicted the level of risk of cardiovascular diseases and obesity. Those who preferred the western diet had increased level of biomarkers in blood (insulin was 18% on, leptin was 16% on), reduced concentration of nutrients, contained in fruits and vegetables, that can prevent cardiac diseases (folit was 16% lower), so the risk of CVD diseases was high. On ...
... the contrary sparing diet was connected with normal concentration of biomarkers. The information concerning the way of life of both groups was almost identical

.
Gradually people who kept to the western diet began to lead less healthy way of life than people watching what they eat. The probability of becoming an inveterate smoker was 90% on among the supporters of this diet. They watch TV 30% on, made physical exercises 23% less and applied vitamin E 50% less.
