Exactly why do we use strobe lights in emergency situations? Certainly one of the main reasons is they are incredibly effective and highly visible. All emergency vehicles have a need or necessity to be seen and the car strobe light units are very easily seen from some distance. There isn't many other lighting that can be seen round 360-degree visibility, meaning whichever angle you come upon the light it is visible. Even some of the most cutting edge versatile and expensive lightbars out there has a strobe light incorporated into the unit.

The stroboscopic light as it is also known has been with us for quite some time. There are different camps of thought on how and where the strobe light was invented, but certainly, the first recorded use of them was in a 1911 Royal Navy seaman's manual. Without any doubt, Dr Harold Egerton of MIT put strobe lights to use in photography to capture motion. Certainly, Dr Edgerton put strobe lights on the map. car strobe light units can be fixed temporarily to a vehicle, which is ideal for volunteer emergency service personnel or Doctors and nurses on call.

The single ...
... iconic beacon car strobe light is an image many of us have when we talk of police vehicles especially. That slowly rotating light at a scene of crime sticks in our memories, and is still a powerful image today. Whilst the single light has been replaced by lightbars, visor lights, dash lights and rear window lights, the single beacon strobe has a valuable place in today's emergency lighting world. It isn't always the case that more lighting on a vehicle is good, and in fact, the exact opposite could be true.

A vehicle, especially a car with a full lightbar, visor lights, dash lights and concealed lighting can produce far too much glare if all lights are used. Glare from emergency vehicle lights can cause temporary blindness and also distract drivers from their route. A car strobe light with just a few additional lights can give all the lighting power a vehicle needs for any circumstance or road conditions. Strobe lights now come in LED light versions and they can give an extreme amount of light output for such a small unit.

Strobe lighting is used in many other areas today and you will find them on many alarm systems in buildings as hazard warning. Strobe lights are also used in theatres and clubs to produce some stunning lighting effects. The main use for strobe lights will continue to be in the emergency lighting world as they prove to be very effective there, whether it is car strobe light units or strobes highlighting exits out of buildings. On emergency vehicles, there is no doubt that the strobe light helps keep first responders safe and the public informed.
