DefensiveDrivingSolutions.com offers a 6 hour online course. These 6 hours do not have to be completed in one day. You have 180 days to successfully complete the course. Within these 180 days, feel free to sign in and take the course in whichever increments that are convenient. Just be sure that you have completed all 6 hours before the deadline set by the traffic court. There is a penalty for not completing the course in time. Points may be added to your license and you may be required to pay additional fees or penalties to the court. The best way to avoid these penalties would be to complete the course in a timely manner.
This course is not difficult. There are graphs, games, videos and audio read-along to assist you in learning the course material. Pop quizzes will be given throughout the course. These quizzes are based on the videos, so be sure to pay attention.
When the course is complete you will be given a final exam. The final exam consist of 20 multiple choice questions. These questions will be based on all of the course material. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must pass the final ...
... with a score of 70% or higher. There is no need to worry if you do not pass the exam on your first try. You have 3 opportunities to achieve a passing score. If you pay attention throughout the course, you will do well on the final exam.
After you have passed the final, a certificate of completion will be mailed to you. It usually takes about 5 business days to receive your certificate. If you do not receive the certificate after 7 days, be sure to contact us. It is your responsibility to mail your certificate to the court immediately after receiving it. If you fail to do so, points may be added to your license. There will be no record of your driving course completion if the certificate isn't filed by the court.
In addition to proving course completion, this certificate also makes you eligible for an insurance premium discount. You can earn a discount of up to 10%off your yearly premium. Your insurance provider sees your willingness to take this course as proof that you are trying to keep the roads safe. The premium discount is your insurance company's way of saying thanks.
Before signing up for this course, check with the court that issued your citation for eligibility. If you have taken a similar course within the past 12 months you may be ineligible. There are cases when exceptions are granted, so check and make sure.
