Cross stitch kits are supposed to be a great invention for any one who wants to learn cross stitch. They make learning cross stitch fun and easy as they provide all the things that you need in one kit so you can concentrate on learning. Once you have made you first project by making use of a cross stitch kit you will have learned how to cross stitch as it is very simple really. The size of the kit is what decides whether the project will be big or small and if there are any embellishments to be added to enhance your project.

Basically cross stitch kits come in two kinds; the counted cross stitch kits and the stamped cross stitch kits. In the latter kind, the pattern is stamped or printed on the fabric as if it were a coloring page waiting to be filled in. In the case of counted cross stitch, you look at the pattern on a book or leaflet, count the number of crosses and then embroider them on the fabric. Normally stamped cross stitch is meant for beginners who are learning cross stitch; it makes it easier for them to focus on the stitches rather than worry about the design and the counting of stitches. The counted cross ...
... stitch requires you to be able to read the pattern and be able to count; basically that is all that is different between the two kinds.

The cross stitch kits normally come with aida fabric, embroidery floss and a needle; sometimes a hoop and a design along with instructions are also included. The patterns that usually come in these kits are very simple; however, you can get some which are elaborate too. If you are a cross stitch fan then there are plenty of kits for you choose from whether it is wedding cross stitch, anniversary cross stitch, Christmas cross stitch, new baby cross stitch, christening cross stitch, cat cross stitch or flowers cross stitch.

If you have been playing tic tac toe then you will already know how to make the main stitch of cross stitch which is just like drawing an x. You have to take the needle up from one corner of the grid fabric which is known as aida cloth and then take the needle down on the opposite corner of the same square in the grid creating a diagonal line which forms half of the x. Then you have to bring the needle up back to the top corner that you started with to complete the other half of the cross. It’s quite simple only remember that you have to poke the needle vertically so that you get only vertical lines underneath; else you are not dong it correctly and it won’t be neat underneath whether you use the cross stitch kits or not.
