Country Life!

A few years ago, my husband had the bright idea that we should buy a farm. Why on earth I agreed to go along with it, I have no idea. Maybe I was younger and in love but the harsh reality of country living soon brought me to my senses. Thankfully it was only a small holding and my husband could do most of the work and as it was his idea, I let him. The farm was located in a very remote part of North Wales. It was situated on the approach to Snowdonia and the nearest shopping area was situated over an hours drive away. I had always been a city girl and missed the city centre buzz dreadfully. However most of all, I missed shopping. Obviously there is the possibility to do most of one’s shopping online but I missed the shopping experience. In these dark days of shopping deprivation, Debenhams kept me sane. It was the only proper department store nearby and it kept me warm on those dark, Winter, lonely days. Well maybe thats a little too melancholic, but you get the gist.

Coming Home

Debenhams was situated amongst the usual stores of Currys, Comet and a Toys R Us. It was always fairly busy as ...
... it was the only such store in the area. It is very surprising as to how long you can spend in one department store when there are no other shops to tempt you inside. I could be in there for hours, perusing the merchandise in the greatest of detail. And if I had received Debenhams coupons in the post , I would be there for days! For me, walking into Debenhams was like a drug addict meeting their dealer. A sense of calm and happiness washed over me as I would see the Clinique girls with their meticulous make up and perfectly manicured finger nails. It felt like coming home.

Expedition

I usually started my shopping expedition on the fashion floors. I am no stranger to treating myself and often searched 5hop5.co.uk for a Debenhams promo code to use as a discount on my goods. I always justified my spending splurge by saving a few pennies when I arrived at the till. Before I set back off up my Welsh mountain I would always ensure that I had a little treat for hubby, I never wanted him to feel left out.

City Street

We eventually managed to sell the farm including the livestock and we have returned to city life. My husband has swapped early mornings milking cattle for late nights in glamourous cocktail bars. Our apartment is actually located above Selfridges and although I do spend a lot of time in the store, I never forget faithful Debenhams. It got me through a tough time and walking the extra mile to visit them is almost like paying them homage! Thanks Debenhams.
