Packing Up

I was recently preparing to move house and whilst I was packing up, I found a Currys coupon in my bed side table. It gave me an idea. New house-new television. I checked the Currys voucher code to make sure it was still valid and was happy to see that it still had three months left. It was a sign from above that I needed to purchase a more state of the art television. As I had become a little fatigued of packing boxes, I decided to put on some shoes and drive down to the nearest Comet.

Size Matters

I love coming to shops like Comet, these are real men shops. Who needs a shopping mall with a million shops all selling the same thing? I prefer B & Q, Maplin or for a special treat, Halfords. Plus, on retail parks, it is always possibly to park right outside the shop. Ideal. Walking briskly past the kitchen appliances, I head straight for the TV department. The TV display gives a whole new meaning to TV gold. In front of me there are at least 70 glossy flat TV screens, seemingly in a thousand different sizes. ... by looking at the smaller screens. Do I really want a 30 inch TV? Everybody knows that size matters, shouldn’t I go for 40 or 45 inches? Then I see the “real thing”. Sixty inches! Wow, thats big. In my mind I have already decided to ignore “her indoors” and I am going to have a sixty inch TV. The next problem is which? LCD, LED,Plasma or 3D. Decisions decisions. In my opinion the pictures look great on all of them, the only difference seems to be the price. I rule out 3D straight away as this is the most expensive and I would not like to have to sit wearing glasses all the time. I need an assistant to help me and soon find the right man hiding amongst the fridges.

Which?

He starts to tell me about LED, DPI and HDMI. He really knows his stuff and gives me tons of information. The possibilities seem to be endless but unfortunately the money in my wallet is not. Mark, the sales assistant, seems to be doing his best to sell me a 3D TV, thats probably where he earns the most commission but I am not to be persuaded. I actually seem to have fallen in love with a black and silver framed beauty which is is Sony 60 inch. I ask if “she” is in stock and he informs me that indeed “she” is. I have made my decision and Mark sets about filling in the paperwork. He also gives me an additional Currys promo code which I can use on my next visit. We shake hands and I go and wait at the door whilst the television is brought from the storage.

Taking “her” home.

After a short while a man emerges from the back of the shop with my new television. As he pushed it along on the trolley, I amazed at how big it was and wondered if it would possibly fit in my car. I put the seats down in the back of the car and after a few minutes struggling we managed to load “her” up. On the way home I phoned a friend and arranged them to come and assist me to get the television inside the house. Even though we were moving three days later, I couldn’t resist putting the television on the wall as I needed to have the new viewing experience. And thankfully, with a television this good, my wife was soon won over too. Alls well that ends well.
