About Aluminum House Number Plaques
Having decided that you need an address plaque for your house, several considerations come to mind, the most prominent one being the construction material of the plaque. Looking at the market you will quickly discover that many house number plaques are constructed out of aluminum. This is so because this material does not rust or corrode and being light in weight, framing it will not be difficult. However, being a light and soft material, it will not last long enough and hence the need for a casting process which will allow the aluminum sign to withstand the harshest of weather.
The positioning of house number plaques is always a baffling situation. There are several designs of aluminum signs which are suited for different locations around your home. Aluminum address posts can work well when located next to the street side or the start of the driveway. Other designs can be installed on the rooftop or hung on the garage door while others are suited for the space in front of your lawn. The means of hanging is also important as it determines whether the plaque will be ...
... in direct exposure to the elements. There are several plaque housings available with many peoples’ preference being the vinyl type which is virtually maintenance-free.
Address plaques should be visible from a quite far off distance. This is achieved through the use of sizeable embossed address plaques. A cast aluminum sign can achieve this quite cheaply compared to other metal materials. Plastics achieve this requirement easier but they do not last long. Casting methods have been refined to achieve house number plaques with excellent deigns and intricate patterns that are well legible. This is followed by the application of colors and finishes that are also uniquely developed to ensure that they are suitable for unforgiving outdoor climates.
The motifs, numbers and texts used are usually in colors different from that of the rest of the plaque to create contrast which is good for vision. If the contrasting colors of the aluminum sign will not satisfy your visibility requirements then you can opt for the illuminated type. Several aluminum-framed and lighted house number plaques designs are also available and the options here include internal or external illumination. The standard types are the ones that are externally illuminated by shining a light on the plaque. Many avoid the internal illumination systems as they may include wiring (extra lighting costs) or if self-powered such as the solar type, complex circuitry and battery replacement costs come in. Some firms offer a personalization service where you can obtain a residence number plaque made to your specifications.
