Amazon Jungle
Its a jungle out there!
Most people who were born in the 1970s tend to be have been fairly computer literate for a while. Not me however. After leaving school at the tender age of sixteen I took over my mothers cake shop.I continued to successfully run my own business until I had my first child, aged 30. I then decided that I wanted to be able to spend quality time with my child and was lucky enough to have the option to become a full time mum. We had a computer at home but I rarely went near it, unless it was dusty. When my little girl went to school it soon became apparent that the other mums were all “down with the kids” and completely up to date with technology. The discussions were all about MP3, Youtube and Facebook. This was all completely alien to me and up until recently Amazon was just a jungle located somewhere in Brazil. However I decided to bring myself up to speed and now have a love of all things Amazonian.
What is Amazon?
Most 21st century people who require an answer to the above question would simply “google” it Up until recently, the word “googled” would have flown completely ...
... over my head but today I count myself amongst the technologically enlightened, sounds clever hey? Amazon.com is a multinational electronic commerce company, basically meaning international online retailer. So what has the word Amazon got to do with shopping online? Do they sell natural products made from ingredients found in the rainforest? Surprisingly not. The company was named Amazon as the Amazon river is one of the largest rivers in the world and consequently the name would symbolise something big! Although the company originally started as a online book retailer it soon diversified selling food, toys, electronics, video games and so on. I was also informed that if you visit hop5.co.uk you could find Amazon coupons which would give you a discount after you had completed your shopping, sounded perfect.
Amazon Virgin- No, not Gisele Bundchen!
I had decided to pay Amazon a visit. I was not really searching for anything in particular but this was my first real online shopping experience and I was curious to see how it all worked, especially using the Amazon discount code. A little typing and a few clicks later I arrive at the Amazon homepage. The page welcomes me with an “Hello Anton” message. Anton is my husband and evidently he already has an Amazon account, saved me a job. On the left hand side I can see a store directory and in the middle of the page Amazon has kindly made recommendations on films we might life to purchase, based on my husband’s previous choices. King Kong and Godzilla remind me of my husbands bad taste in film. As I am looking around, I keep being drawn to the central advertisement for Kindle. Kindle was another one of those words that used to intimidate me like, ebay and paypal but I decided to research a little further. Apparently a Kindle is a device which allows you to download e-books, newspapers, magazines and blogs. This sounded very interesting indeed and as a lover of the written word, I decided to treat myself. I have to admit that it was an impulsive purchase but I have seem to got the bug for all things technical and want to be absolutely up to speed with the latest gadgets. I managed to place my order successfully using the Amazon promo code and checked out with my newly registered paypal account. I felt very proud of myself indeed and intend to visit 5hop5.co.uk tomorrow and search for another voucher code. Shopping online could become addictive. You can even check out with paypal. Whats paypal? Oh, google it yourself.
