Ferrari personalization has become such a well-established, popular procedure among Ferrari owners that the Company recently opened a second atelier at Maranello specifically for this purpose. A typically external decoration for a car such as the Ferrari California is limited to the addition of a second color or by following classic design. To celebrate the new second Factory atelier, a recent issue of the acclaimed Ferrari magazine features the personalization topic in an original approach by using a theme like a contemporary tattoo implemented on the livery of the Ferrari California. The inspiration for a message that lies somewhere between decoration and tattooing came from a variety of civilizations and peoples. The execution became possible by observing their traditional and historical codes and symbols and by having signs from different cultures become personal decorations for the California. Ferrari California Technical Highlights
Engine: 4.3-liter V8 mounted in the mid-front for excellent weight position. Engine has direct injection and variable valve timing on intake and exhaust improving drivability, emissions and economy. Output is 460 HP at 7750 rpm, 485 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm.

Chassis and body: made entirely of aluminum to improve repair times. Torsional rigidity is excellent despite convertible body-shell.

Aerodynamics: flat-under floor with a front splitter and rear diffuser. A base bleed effect around the rear wheel arches reduces pressure in that area of the car. Exhaust has a vertical set up which allows for the use of the widest possible rear diffuser.
Gearbox: dual clutch, seven speed transmission which allows independent control of the even and odd gears and their pre-selection. This eliminates torque interruption between shifts resulting in a seamless gear-change. Gearbox is rear transaxle to further assist with weight distribution.

Manettino: steering wheel-mounted control switch governing stability and traction control systems. Feature: comfort, sport and CTS allowing the driver to control the chassis behavior.

Brakes: Carbon Ceramic Discs (CCM) featured as standard. CCM ensures shorter stopping distances and significantly improved resistance to fade thanks to higher thermal distribution.

Interior: instrument panel features both analogue and digital dials. Central rev counter dominates with its LED display. A TFT screen displays information such as manettino setting, tire pressure and temperatures.
