For this reason, more American and Canadian buyers are choosing options like Playa del Carmen villas – an option which allows them to save money and enjoy comfortable living in a warm-weather beachfront community. The following is a breakdown of expenses buyers may consider.

The cost of the villa – This is the first and most significant expense to consider. Luxury villas in the downtown area, or in the more established communities, will start around $350,000 USD. However, in some of the newer gated communities, which offer many of the same amenities offer very high quality villas in beautiful complexes starting around $200,000 USD. Flight expenses - The Cancun International Airport is only 35 minutes away from the north end of town where most of the best deals in villas are located. Round trips on direct flights can be found for as little as $250 (with fees and taxes), and are rarely more than $500, depending on the location within North America.
