Phony Locksmiths Scammers

No profession is free of fraud and deception. You can pick up any career that exists in the world and you are bound to come across some kind of unfairness. Same is the case with locksmiths. Although, they are the people who help you out when you are locked out of your own residence or vehicle, still sometimes, you might fall in the trap of phony locksmiths. The term is quite self-explanatory but for those of you who still didn’t get it phony locksmiths are fakes and deceivers who trick you into believing that they are a licensed and insured locksmith. Each year thousands of people fall in the trap of these scammers who overcharge you and try to intimidate you.
The question that arises is how are you to avoid these phony locksmith scammers? Firstly, never go for just any locksmith company from the yellow pages or the internet. Random selection is one of the major causes why people get stuck in this problem. Try to search and find a widely known, licensed and insured professional. One such site that is credible enough for this purpose is the “FindALockSmith.com”. Here you can find trusted Associated Locksmiths of ...
... America. In case, you don’t have access to the internet at the moment, you could probably call up your local Better Business Bureau so that you can find a trustworthy company which can be verified too. Also, you can ask is the company still has any unattended complaints. This would show how much the company cares about its reputation and customer satisfaction. If road side assistance is available, go for their locksmith providers as they are usually reliable. The road side assistance service providers usually have past experiences related to these locksmiths so they can guide you better.
In case, you have called upon a random locksmith, try not to deal with him alone. Always have somebody with you, may be a friend, relative or neighbor as a witness. Be sure that your witness is not related to the locksmith company in any way. Check if the locksmith came in a marked car or not. Using any unmarked vehicle is the sign of a phony locksmith. Ask him for all the company details, his identity card, his credentials, his license and other important information. Note down all the major points so that you can use them future reference. Usually, deceiving locksmiths are hesitant to provide this information as this can be used to track them later on. In case, they suspect that you will report them, they tend to leave you alone.
Try to make sure that the estimate of cost they have given you is appropriate and imaginable. In case, it is too high then you should be alert. At any point, if you feel uncomfortable with the locksmith, it is best to not use their services and call a reputable locksmith. Report such incidents to the police or law enforcement agencies.
